Did someone say free movies? Yes we certainly did.
The Irish Film Institute (IFI) is holding its annual Open Day this Saturday, July 2, meaning that for the whole day, the public can wander in and enjoy the cinema for precisely zero monies.
The movies that will be shown have not yet been announced (surprise is all part of the fun), but they have stated that the films will include “sneak-previews, old favourites, cult classics and archive films”.
Hardcore cinephiles will also have the opportunity to get glimpse behind the scenes of the IFI with talks from their film archive staff, and they’ll even give you a chance to look inside the mysterious projection booth.
Tickets will be released an hour before each film’s scheduled screening time, all you have to do is queue at the relevant desk and pick up your tickets (limited to two per person) and that’s it.
